New MacBook Air software update brings trio of fixes

Apple on Thursday put out a small software update to users of its latest 2013 MacBook Airs, one that promises to fix a trio of issues that affected some users: This update fixes an issue that in rare instances may cause an intermittent loss in wireless connectivity, an issue with Adobe Photoshop which may cause occasional screen flickering, and an issue which may cause audio volume to fluctuate during video playback. Microsoft’s $900M Surface RT write-down: What happened?

Microsoft announced a $900 million “inventory adjustment” charge for its Surface RTs, parts and accessories on July 18. That write-down completely overshadowed the performance of the rest of the products and services that contributed to the company’s Q4 2013 earnings. (Among those overshadowed was Office 365 — the Microsoft subscription service through which the company provides the Office client and hosted Office server apps.
